A rotary plug valve comprising a valve body having a cylindrical bore with axially offset lateral inlet and outlet ports communicating with the bore on opposite sides thereof. Safety Valves A cylindrical plug in the bore has a slanted passage which connects the inlet port to the outlet port in the open position of the valve.Forged Steel Valves Sealing means are provided at each end of the plug. Flow sealing means is provided on the periphery of the plug between the end sealing means and follows a continuous sinuous path around the plug having peaks which extend alternately above and below the inlet port. PLUG VALVESThe path lies between the inlet and outlet ports in the closed position of the valve to prevent leakage therebetween. Substantially identical increments of the path are diametrically spaced apart and encompass equal areas on opposite sides of the plug. The plug is thereby balanced under all operating conditions against forces created by the fluid pressure acting thereon.
